I work mostly with small businesses and startups to help shape their voice and brand with the power of exceptional content. I edit and review full website content, business plans, press releases and presentations. I write quality blog posts, including keyword research. I craft executive bios, buyer personas and sales sheets. I construct resumes and cover letters. I write email copy, landing pages, ebooks; brainstorm headlines and themes, ghost write and more.
About me
My name is Joanna Brinjak Furlong. I've been writing professionally for years, but I've been writing for as long as I could hold a crayon in my clumsy little five-year old hand. I studied journalism, but quickly fell into marketing after graduating. I've been fortunate to have held roles in all aspects of marketing from online to partner marketing and internal communications, from PR to creative services and email. I've used that journalism degree and my writing skills every step of the way.
I'm inspired by real people who work hard every day to pursue their dreams. I naturally gravitate toward entrepreneurs and small businesses. I'm fascinated by personal stories. I love asking questions and discovering the heartbeat of a brand. And I'm in awe of the ever changing and exploding Los Angeles tech scene.
I live in Los Angeles with my husband, toddler daughter and dusty 'ole yellow lab. I have a mild obsession with sharpies (I use them for editing), absolutely love to cook and I'll never pass up a glass of velvety red. I consider a few lazy hours of uninterrupted reading, wandering around a museum or spending time with family some of life's best simple pleasures. And I'm a big fan of exploring Los Angeles like a tourist, even after 8 years, despite ending up on a corny tour bus from time to time.
